How Our Program Works

It’s a amazing how far you’re willing to go when someone believes in you.

We believe that society functions best when everyone contributes and that young adults want to productively contribute to society but do not always know how to.

Instead of giving a handout or even a “hand-up,” At Narratives, we create space for young adults to flourish and develop community and lifelong relationships that contribute to their success and the success of their family, neighborhoods, and community for years to come.

Young adults are paired with trained life coaches for individualized support based on their strengths, weaknesses, and life goals.

Connections with community mentors extend the reach of the life coaches and set up participants for a lifetime of success by teaching them life skills and modeling how to create and maintain healthy relationships.

Narratives supports young adults who have mental health issues, addiction, and trauma find the most adaptive ways to function with their mental illness and not let that hinder their success in life. When paired with life coaching and community mentors, mental health support helps young adults change their lives more significantly than any one aspect alone.

Group classes provide education in a safe environment on topics that the entire group needs to achieve their goals. Topics may include money management, cooking, employment coaching and skills, study skills, and basic daily living skills.

Monthly family dinners gather everyone together for a family-style meal to build relationships with one another, encourage each other, celebrate achievements, and practice both life skills and relationship skills.

Young adults we serve:

  • Any young adult needing assistance in making the transition from youth well

  • In particular, youth who have “aged out” of foster care or youth services

  • Young adults who lack social capital – supportive relationships that provide guidance

  • Young adults struggling to balance mental health issues with the tasks of daily adult living

  • Any young adult needing assistance to successfully make the transition from youth to adulthood

Did you know that for $50/month you can help a young adult who would otherwise not be able to afford services continue their education, learn valuable and healthy life skills, improve relationships, and achieve their dreams?
